Welcome to Module 2 of the Oregon Department of Education online course on Developing and Implementing a Comprehensive School Counseling Program.

This module focuses on developing the first three components of your comprehensive school counseling program (CSCP):

  1. Development and implementation of a Counseling Advisory Council

  2. Development of your CSCP’s Beliefs, Vision, Mission statements, and consideration of developing a CSCP Social Equity Statement.

  3. Assessment of students’ counseling needs and of the opportunity gaps.

Please note a key difference between Module 1 and Module 2:  Whereas the Module 1 materials can be read by each team member separately, completing Module 2 will require more frequent team meetings to complete the actions prescribed. Teams are encouraged to keep forward momentum as they proceed, knowing the work on Advisory Councils and the assessment of student needs will likely take several weeks to accomplish. The CSCP Beliefs, Vision, Mission, and Social Equity statements can potentially be completed in two meetings.

Review the Course Development Template Activities for Module #2 that you downloaded so you are ready to respond to each item in the template as you engage with that activity/ information in the module.
