This CSCP course provides counseling teams with the information necessary to develop and implement the team’s CSCP and at the same time not overwhelm you with content. Several topics that your school district counseling team can address through further professional learning are:

1. The Transformative Social and Emotional Learning Framework and Standards was adopted by the State Board of Education in 2023 and required by all school districts in 2024. The Transformative SEL Framework and Standards are intended to help build capacity for strengthening equity-focused school cultures that support. student and adult well-being. Your counseling team will want to be a part of planning for and implementing Transformative SEL, while considering the intersections with your comprehensive school counseling program. This website has resources and guidance to support implementation, instructional materials, standards crosswalks, and communication tools.

2. Technology can be used to manage and improve CSCPs. Use this link to access a word document with a link to resources about the use of technology in the profession.

3. The Community Involvement domain information in Module 1 and Module 2 is an attempt to clarify and communicate to all district teams what the domain entails. ODE will continue to add to the information provided at the Resources by Developmental Domain webpage.

4. The Oregon Career and Technical Education (CTE) State Plan and Oregon Career Connected Learning interfaces with each district’s comprehensive school counseling program. The Oregon Department of Education has contracted with personnel at Oregon State and the Willamette ESD to develop a course similar to this course that will inform school counselors and other staff doing career counseling and advising about CTE/STEM/CCL and other career related topics. You can access a variety of resources on the CCL Resource Hub to support your career development work with students, families and your school community.

5. CCL Resource Hub:  The Career Connected Learning Resource Hub is a web-based platform designed and developed by Oregon educators and funded by the Oregon Department of Education. The CCL Resource Hub facilitates career education by connecting educators, students, families, and community and industry partners. The Hub serves as a centralized repository of free resources and communication tools aimed at connecting the dots between education and the workforce, benefiting each group:

  • Educators can access and share relevant teaching materials, get updated on industry trends, engage in professional development, promote events, and communicate with partners in forums and messaging.

  • Students can learn about their interests, explore career options, find help, gain practical skills through internships and job shadowing, and access financial aid information for their education planning.

  • Families and Caregivers can support their student’s education by accessing career awareness and college readiness information, financial planning tools, and support services while staying informed on their progress.

  • Community and Industry Partners can collaborate with schools to advise curriculum development, address skill gaps by connecting with future talent, and provide internships and training that benefit the local economy.

Though educators may be spread out across the state, the CCL Hub’s communication and collaboration tools create a more connected and informed community. They encourage the sharing of best practices, promote innovation in teaching methods, and ensure that educators have access to the resources and support they need to provide the best education possible for Oregon students. It aligns education with real-world needs and fosters collaboration among key partners, resulting in a more integrated and responsive learning ecosystem.

6. Module 1 addressed the Oregon Department of Education Equity Stance, the ASCA Ethical Guidelines regarding equity, and then the ASCA position statements on the School Counselor and Anti Racist Practice, School Counselor and Cultural Diversity, and Equity for All Students.

Additional resources and professional development will be provided on these vital issues through the Oregon Department of Education and the Oregon School Counselor Association.
