National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Supplemental School Social Work Ethical Standards
This supplemental resource provides a Code of Ethics that guides the school social worker profession and builds from the NASW Code of Ethics. The Code of Ethics addresses critical issues related to the school social work practice. Teams working with school social workers in the development and implementation of the CSCP, such as school counselors, ASPIRE and career center coordinators, teachers, and clinical mental health workers, may benefit from understanding the ethics that guide the profession.
1.5 Supplemental School Social Work Standards PDF
School counseling programs work best when all of the school staff collaborate and support the CSCP. Some ways that this can be done are by scheduling time with their counseling staff to integrate counseling core lessons in the classroom, providing pull out time for counseling small groups of students, or by being a part of the planning for school-wide or special events and activities.
